OPPORTUNITY We accept student volunteer applications year-round. This opportunity is open to Washington State University undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Placement opportunities are available across both clinical and non-clinical departments. Clinical placements operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a preferred minimum of 4 hours and a strict maximum of 12 hours per day. REQUIREMENTS • Minimum 20 hours per semester commitment for at least one academic year • Must be enrolled in a Washington State University undergraduate or graduate program • Enrollment must be applicable to the placement area within Gritman • Responsible for self-pay fees related to vaccination records and background check; costs may vary depending on vaccination status. • Please note: placement for WSU students is limited and highly competitive. • Preference given to applicants who plan to volunteer for a minimum of three years EXPECTATIONS • Maintain professional conduct at all times • Arrive on time, park in designated areas, and communicate any scheduling changes in advance • Follow The Gritman Way in all interactions • Follow Gritman dress code: - Modest, professional dress is required - Scrubs and tennis shoes acceptable for clinical placements - No jeans, sweatpants, or graphic t-shirts PLEASE NOTE: Please note that Gritman Medical Center does not reach out after you sign up in VolunteerMatters. It is your responsibility to complete all required steps, complete required credentialing, and email us at volunteer@gritman.org once finished. Do not sign up for shifts until your final interview is complete, you’ve received approval, and have your volunteer badge.

All clinical volunteers should use charge nurse of department as primary point of contact while on shift (Primary). For questions or assistance regarding volunteer placements: volunteer@gritman.org or 208-883-6470

All volunteers must immediately report any injury to their department shift supervisor and/or the House Supervisor. Volunteers are expected to follow all safety protocols and guidelines to protect themselves, patients, staff, and visitors.

• Violation of HIPAA or any safety policy will result in immediate termination. • Failure to adhere to the schedule, dress code, or general volunteer expectations—including tardiness or missed shifts—may result in termination from the program. • Gritman reserves the right to terminate a volunteer at any time for failure to meet program requirements or maintain professional conduct.
