Gritman Medical Center
This placement is designed for undergraduate or graduate students seeking experience in healthcare settings. The Medical-Surgical Unit at Gritman Medical Center provides exposure to a clinical environment. Volunteer tasks may include, but are not limited to: • Assisting the staff by checking stock and restocking materials • Answering call lights and reporting to a staff member if patient assistance is required • Cleaning rooms of discharged patients and preparing rooms for new patients • Checking expiration dates on supplies • Rounding and observing unit operations Clinical positions are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a preferred minimum of 4 hours and a strict maximum of 12 hours per day. Important: Do not sign up for shifts until you have completed all required credentials and have received your volunteer badge.
• Provide students with exposure to the workflow and operations of a clinical hospital unit • Develop professional skills, teamwork, and communication in a healthcare setting • Observe how hospital staff coordinate patient care, supplies, and unit management • Gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of various clinical and support staff

All volunteers & students must immediately report any injury to their department shift supervisor and/or the House Supervisor. Volunteers & students are expected to follow all safety protocols and guidelines to protect themselves, patients, staff, and visitors.
• Violation of HIPAA or any safety policy will result in immediate termination. • Failure to adhere to the schedule, dress code, or general volunteer expectations—including tardiness or missed shifts—may result in termination from the program. • Gritman reserves the right to terminate a volunteer at any time for failure to meet program requirements or maintain professional conduct.
